A Letter from Our Board

A Message to all our Community Stakeholders

Followers, Pledged Credit Union Members and Subscribers, Donors, Funders

The Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP) is alive and we are here to let you know we are excited about refreshing our relationship with you.  That means we are ready to continue establishing partnerships with you to dismantle barriers that impede the financial well-being of our community and to erect structures for building the financial wealth of our community.

To revive our work toward these organizational goals, over the past year ABEP has created a Governance Board, which is focused on building an infrastructure to guide, support, and monitor the work of the organization and its fidelity to ABEP’s vision and mission.  We have developed a strategic plan and roadmap, incorporating milestones for six critical strategic focus areas, while highlighting the Village Financial Credit Union as our primary strategic initiative.  We have hired an Executive Director and are currently employing staff and consultants as well as reengaging with mentors, advisors, and funders to develop the capacity  to meet our strategic milestones toward our goals, most notably the Village Financial Credit Union.

We are a resilient community, forged by the grit and determination to win together in spite of the myriad of persistent obstacles, setbacks, disappointments we, as a people, experience.  We are not only ready, as stated above, but also indeed proud to be part of re-igniting ABEP’s commitment and reactivating the necessary energy to realize ABEP’s vision and mission.

Thank you for your enduring faith;

Thank for your trust;

Thank you for your patience

as we methodically work to build a solid foundation for developing and sustaining Black wealth in our community.
