Financial Empowerment Center Outreach - Future Bright Conference
ABEP was invited to conduct morning and afternoon financial education sessions at the North Hennepin Community College "Future Bright Conference," as well as participate in the Vendor Resource Hall. The combined sessions attracted around 40 participants, where our staff delivered engaging presentations on various financial literacy topics
In the Vendor Hall, students showed keen interest in learning more about ABEP and the credit union.
Path to Prosperity Workshop
This workshops will consist of Building and Maintaining Credit, Debt Repayment, Insurance, Budgeting, Managing Risk, Intro to Investing. Building a savings plan, Home Ownership. To learn more about this program please contact our FEC Program Manager Benson Webb.
Financial Empowerment Center
The ABEP Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) is a program that works with residents within the community, who may be unbanked, underbanked, or victims of predatory lenders, or other fringe banking outlets.
Arise CCU (Proposed)
Formerly the Village Financial Credit Union, a project started in July 2016 when the community voted that a Black-led financial institution was imperative for the community. This idea came from the North Minneapolis community and the Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP) was formed to carry out this work. On July 27th of 2022, the community voted to change the official name to Arise Community Credit Union (Proposed).
